Leaf litter refers to a layer of dead leaves on the floor of the vivarium. Leaf litter provides visual barriers and hides for the vivarium
inhabitants. Leaf litter also gradually breaks down, adding nutrients to the substrate, and sustaining healthy populations of microfauna, such as springtails and isopods, that not only provide a source of food for many vivarium inhabitants, but also aid in keeping the vivarium clean.
Magnolia Leaves hold up very well in humid environments so they make a great terrarium addition. Magnolia Leaves provide hiding spots for your frogs and a place for springtails to congregate. A medium sized leaf, most Magnolia Leaves measure about 4-7″, but can vary quite a bit in length.
Leaf Litter preforms a very important role in a naturalistic vivarium. Leaf Litter provides shelter, visual barriers, and hiding places for the vivairum’s inhabitants, such as poison dart frogs.
